Short Term Rental Update for Tahoe & Truckee
If you're considering vacation renting your property or buying a home to vacation rent here is an update.
Placer County STR permit renewal process will begin on April 1, 2022.

TRUCKEE New Registration Moratorium extended to June 15, 2022.

Placer County STR permit renewal process will begin on April 1, 2022.
- Placer County’s STR application website is in the process of being updated. during this transition, no STR permit applications will be processed between March 18 and March 31, 2022.
Here are the changes in a nutshell...
- A local contact must be available by phone 24/7 and the ability to be "onsite" of property with 60 minutes of a call.
- STR permits do not transfer with the sale of a home. New owners will have to apply for a new STR permit
- No more than 3900 STR permits will be issued in East Placer County (Tahoe Region) .
