July Home Maintenance Tips

Summer is here in full force and there a few things the professionals recommend for maintaining your home this month.

1. Clean Patio Furniture- summer barbecues and the beating sun can wear on your patio furniture. Use a non-toxic cleaner to help scrub off the tougher grime and launder cloth furniture covers.

2. Patch Asphalt and Concrete- Use this non-rainy/snowy season to inspect driveways and sidewalks. Asphalt and concrete patching compounds can be found at your local hardware store and are fairly simple to use.

3. Remove Problem Trees- Dead trees are not only ugly, but can prove to be a safety hazard in the next storm. For trees you can't remove yourself, call a professional.

4. Repair Fences- Fences can be very expensive to replace, so walk the fence line and repair damage before it becomes a bigger and more expensive problem to fix.

5. Clean the Range Hood- If the range hood is doing its job properly, it filters a lot of grease and fumes. Give the range hood a thorough inspection and soak the filters in dish-washing soap or run it through the dishwasher. Check your users manual first to make sure all of the pieces are properly cleaned.
